The aircraft was stationed outside the hangar, with numerous individuals milling about. Having just completed a transatlantic journey from London, I have not seen the guys in six months and the reunion was long overdue. Despite keeping in touch through phone calls and texts, it was not the same as seeing each other in person. Our bond had grown strong over the previous Christmas and New Year's, becoming close friends. We shared an enjoyable camaraderie and had a great rapport. Upon their suggestion, I was flying to Shanghai by a private jet for a much-anticipated visit.

The past two months have been challenging. As the holiday season approached, I had hoped for a more joyful time. However, the funeral was a catastrophe and the suffering it caused was immense. While it was inevitable, my stepson would tell a completely different story. Ultimately, my husband would have been grateful for its conclusion. The agony he endured was unbearable, even morphine provided little relief. Ending his suffering was the only solace I could offer.

As I made my way across the tarmac, dragging my bulky suitcase and hoisting my backpack, the steward came to greet me. "Good evening, Ms. Becca," he said with a smile. "We'll be ready to take off for London as soon as we refuel. Captain Li assures us the weather will be in our favor. And it seems you won't be flying solo after all." His unexpected remark caught me off guard, as none of the guys had mentioned anyone accompanying me on the flight.

As I handed over my luggage, a sudden shout echoed from the plane's doorway. My gaze lifted to meet a familiar face, and before I could react, I was swept up and spun around. To say I was taken aback would be an understatement. Sean's laughter and embrace caught me off guard, and I couldn't help but smile. Yet, as we boarded the plane, I couldn't shake off the feeling that this flight would be a bumpy one. I had kept my troubles to myself, not wanting to burden my friends with my worries. Our conversations always revolved around their lives, and we never delved into the chaos that was brewing in mine.

"Sean, what are you doing here? Aren't you supposed to be working?" Sean's face lit up with a smile as he responded, "I actually took off a few days to spend it with you. Each of us has planned time to catch up with you while you're in Shanghai. It feels like we haven't seen you in ages." As he gazed at me, his expression turned to concern. "Why do you look so pale? Are you feeling okay? Is something wrong?" I chuckled and reassured him, "Don't worry, I'm just a bit worn out from the past few months. I need some time to recharge and be myself again. I promise I won't get sick while I'm here with you. When we get back, I'll give everyone an update on what's been happening. It's easier to do it all at once instead of repeating it multiple times. How was your flight over? How's work been treating you?" Sean nodded and began talking about the latest developments at the studio. Inwardly, I breathed a sigh of relief, glad to have avoided that discussion for now.

The darkness enveloped me, accompanied by the musty scent of damp earth and decaying flesh. Time was a blur in this pit, and the ones who put me here had not returned for what felt like an eternity. A
